A Snowy Day in the Turks and Caicos

By Saul

The turquoise waves stood still in shock,
As snowflakes danced upon the dock.
The palm trees, draped in frosted white,
Glistened soft in the pale moonlight.

The conch shells wore a frozen glaze,
While beachside fires fought to blaze.
The flamingos shivered on one leg,
And eyed the sky as if to beg.

The fishermen in coats so thick,
Pulled frozen nets, their hands too quick.
No steel drums played, no bare feet swayed,
Just whispers of a world dismayed.

Yet children laughed, their hands held high,
To catch the magic from the sky.
For even here, where warmth should stay,
A snowflake brings its own ballet.

And so, the island wrapped in a chill,
Held winter close but loved it still.
A fleeting dream, a wondrous sight--
A snowy day, then gone by night.
